The first phase of a two-phase project included a 52,000-s.f. expansion of the 1966 science facility to house classrooms, laboratories, office space, and a 230-seat auditorium. The flexible auditorium can easily adapt to large and small groups. By enclosing the open space of the “L” shaped existing building, Holabird & Root incorporated former exterior walls into a central, open atrium that provides natural light and also lets visitors see what is happening on other floors.
