[ Western Michigan University : New Chemistry Building ]

The new, 83,300-s.f. chemistry building includes three large auditoriums for chemistry and general education purposes, as well as smaller classrooms and instructional labs. Informal gathering spaces of varying sizes are scattered throughout the facility to foster interaction between faculty and students outside of the classrooms and labs. The site was selected based on Holabird & Root's original site planning master plan for the original science addition, Haenicke Hall. The design addresses Western Michigan University's increased focus on visual learning, energy efficiency, safety in the sciences, collaborative learning, and making the sciences visible to the campus community.
