Eric Risinger

Managing Partner AIA, NCARB

Eric has built his career by taking the path of greatest resistance.

That instinct to confront complexity rather than avoid it has created the basis for his relentless inquiry, and his propensity to take things apart, uncover the rationale behind them, and then reimagine them in stronger and more suitable ways.

At Holabird & Root, Eric has become known for mastering the systems that make architecture possible: strategy, planning, programming, budgets, and relationships. He has an innate ability to see both the core of a project – understanding the fundamental purpose that drives it – and to its outermost edges, where the unique needs of its users, programs, operations, and aspirations take shape.

By synthesizing these perspectives, Eric combines data and dialogue to help organizations fully understand where they are today, and where they have the greatest opportunity to go, often identifying possibility before the client has the language to describe it themselves.

His leadership has been instrumental in expanding the firm's K–12 practice, particularly in Ohio, where he helped establish and grow more than $350 million in school work. That growth was built on Eric’s longstanding conviction that the architects leading projects should also be the ones building relationships. By earning trust, understanding the aspirations that drive institutions, and becoming a long-term partner, Eric has helped shape Holabird & Root's strategic direction while reestablishing the firm's external presence during pivotal periods of change.
